The summer high temperature weather is frequent, and the heat has more and more adverse effects on the normal production of chicken farms, the feed intake of broilers has declined, the growth has slowed down, the weight gain has decreased, and the egg production rate of laying hens has decreased, resulting in an increase in egg prices. Therefore, in the summer, we should pay special attention to the heatstroke prevention and cooling of the chicken farm, which is not only to reduce the economic loss of the chicken farm, but also to create opportunities for ourselves when the supply is tight, and to win the future. Chicken farms need to choose the right "kung fu" according to the actual situation, make full use of resources such as equipment, greening, construction and water, and take different measures to make the chicken coop achieve cooling effect and maximize economic benefits.

1. Equipment cooling

1. Fans (exhaust fans, wall fans, floor fans): Installing fans can keep the chicken coop ventilated and blow away the heat and harmful gases of the chickens.

2. Wet curtain fan: In the windowed or closed chicken house, the longitudinal ventilation cooling system of the wet curtain is the most effective cooling effect, and the most common chicken house wet curtain installation method is that the wet curtain is installed at one end of the chicken house, and the exhaust fan is installed at the other end of the chicken house.

Advantages: The ventilation and heat dissipation effect is obvious, the operation is simple, and the staff only needs to switch and start.

Disadvantages: It is easy to be damaged if the maintenance is not in place, and the power failure or failure stops working. The temperature is uneven, the air inlet is cool, the end is hot, and the air humidity is high, which is not conducive to the epidemic prevention of the chicken house.

2. Greening and cooling

1. Tree planting: Plant tall trees around both sides of the chicken coop to avoid direct sunlight to play a shading role, so that chickens can roost in the shade and reduce breeding density.

2. Plant grass: Plant lawn around the chicken coop, use the lawn to absorb heat, and avoid sunlight reflection.

3. Plant climbing plants: plant creepers, loofahs and other plants near the chicken coop, so that the plants can climb all over the roof of the house and play a role in heat insulation and shade.

Advantages: low cost, no need to manage, improve the environment of the chicken farm, trees and fruits can become another source of income.

Disadvantages: The cooling effect needs to wait for the plants to grow luxuriantly to reflect, the arrival of typhoon and rain will cause tree branches to be cut off and the roots of climbing plants will cause damage to the chicken farm building, and the forest is easy to attract wild birds to bring risks to the prevention and control of chicken farm diseases.

3. Building cooling

1. Sunshade net: Set a sunshade net on the window of the chicken coop to block direct sunlight from entering the house. You can also set up a sunshade net on the roof of the chicken coop, and the sunshade net must be more than 50cm higher than the roof of the chicken coop, so that the chicken coop can be shaded together; Or cover the roof of the chicken coop with a layer of 10~15 cm thick straw or wheat straw, sprinkle it with cool water, and keep it moist for a long time, which can prevent a lot of heat from being sucked into the house.

2. Lime spray roof: use white lime or white cement on the outer wall and roof of the chicken coop to paint it white to improve the reflectivity and heat loss rate of the outer surface, and reduce the transmission of solar heat energy to the chicken house.

3. Thermal insulation layer: The chicken coop is 2 meters away from the chicken body and uses a layer of white foam film plastic of about 2 cm to make a ceiling, which can isolate a large amount of hot air on the ceiling and reduce the temperature in the house.

4. Pergola: Build a pergola for shade on the activity site close to the chicken coop, so that the chickens can roost and reduce the breeding density.

Advantages: Significantly reduce temperature, floor temperature and light intensity, and do not affect the environment in the chicken house (lime spray roof is low cost and easy to operate).

Disadvantages: The artificial installation of shade nets, pergolas and thermal insulation layers requires input costs, and shade nets and straw are easy to be damaged and produce noise when it is windy and rainy, which affects the growth of broilers.

4.Cool down with water

1. Spray humidification: Use a high-pressure sprayer to spray the cold water just from the well with very fine water particles to increase the air humidity of the surrounding environment and achieve the purpose of cooling and humidification.

2. Splash cold water on the ground: Splash some cold water on the ground of the chicken coop to increase evaporation and heat dissipation, but it is required to open the doors and windows at the same time to increase the circulation of air, otherwise the humidity in the house is too high and will also aggravate the adverse effects of high temperature.

3. Spray water on the roof of the chicken coop: pump the underground cold water to the roof of the chicken coop, and sprinkle the water through the pipe from the hole or sprinkler head on the roof or the front and rear windows of the chicken coop, which does not affect the humidity in the chicken coop, and is more suitable in areas with sufficient water sources.

4. Chicken coop backflow water: use a relatively thin plastic hose, circling and placing it under the roof or on the roof, external circulating water, the continuous slow flow of water, and not wasting water in water-scarce areas is a good method.

Advantages: obvious cooling effect, no mechanical drive, no noise interference, reduce the stress of the flock.

Disadvantages: The water spray needs to be used with the fan, which wastes water resources, and the air humidity is high, which is not conducive to the epidemic prevention of the chicken coop.

5. Feeding cooling

1. Watermelon skin: chop the watermelon skin, feed about 50 grams per chicken every day, feed 3 times a day, feed separately at noon, and mix in feed in the morning and evening. Soybeans and gypsum powder can also be soaked for 24 hours according to the ratio of 100 grams of soybean and gypsum powder and 10 kg of water, and the immersion solution is used as drinking water to feed the chickens to improve the heat resistance level of the chickens.

2. Feed pumpkin: You can feed it raw, cut the pumpkin into small pieces that chickens can peck at, and let it peck at it. Feeding pumpkin does not allow the laying hens to survive the hot summer, but also promotes the moulting of the laying hens and increases the egg production.

3. Feed additives: add an appropriate amount of vitamin C, E, K, B2 and biotin, bacitracin zinc and other additives to the chicken's diet in the hot summer; Adding appropriate baking soda, bromide buffer, Huoxiang Zhengqi water, etc. to drinking water can effectively prevent or reduce the harm of high temperature to chickens.

Advantages: Increased feed intake promotes growth, improves chicken performance, and reduces heat stress.

Disadvantages: increase the cost of feeding, the effect is not easy to reflect.
